This series was produced by the Perth Mint under its longstanding arrangement with Tuvalu, a Pacific microstate whose entire coin program is effectively outsourced to Australia. Tuvalu holds no mint of its own and generates meaningful government revenue through its numismatic licensing agreements — a financial strategy that became especially important after the country sold its ".tv" internet domain rights for a reported $50 million in 2000, briefly transforming its fiscal outlook entirely.
