Cook Islands issued a voluminous series of wildlife-themed silver dollars in the late 1980s and early 1990s through arrangements with foreign marketing firms — most were struck at the Pobjoy Mint or the Franklin Mint and sold directly to collectors, never circulating on the islands themselves. The fallow deer, native to the Mediterranean and western Asia but widely introduced across Europe, North America, and beyond, had no particular connection to the Cook Islands or the Pacific.
KM#126 belongs to a collector-market product line, not a monetary issue in any functional sense.
