Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, with a pearl drop earring and necklace visible, after the third portrait by Raphael David Maklouf. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field and BELIZE along the right, with the date 1992 positioned at lower right. The initials RDM appear below the truncation of the bust. The design is rendered with fine cameo relief against a mirror-polished proof field.

Additional information

Belize issued a series of gold commemoratives in the early 1990s depicting figures from World War II, and Rommel's inclusion alongside Allied commanders in that same series raised eyebrows at the time. The choice was purely commercial — aimed at the international collector market, where Rommel's name reliably sold coins regardless of the issuing nation's relationship to the conflict. Belize had none.
