Obverse description The obverse features a right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susan Taylor, set against a highly polished mirror field adorned with delicate concentric wave engravings that radiate across the rectangular planchet. The Queen is depicted with her characteristic coiffed hair, pearl necklace, and mature portrait as adopted by the Royal Canadian Mint. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the left border and 'D·G· REGINA' along the right, rendered in spaced capital letters conforming to the rectangular format.

Reverse description The reverse presents a full-colour rendition of the Canadian National Flag, faithfully reproducing its triband design of two red vertical bars flanking a white central field bearing a stylized eleven-pointed red maple leaf, all rendered in vibrant selective colour enamel. The flag design occupies the central field within a raised inner border. The commemorative legend '50th Anniversary of the Canadian Flag' arcs along the upper margin in italic script, while '50e anniversaire du drapeau canadien' appears along the lower margin. The dual date '1965-2015' is inscribed vertically on the left border and the denomination '50 dollars' on the right, marking the fiftieth anniversary of the adoption of the Maple Leaf Flag on February 15, 1965.
