| Obverse description | The third-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, draped and crowned with the George IV State Diadem and wearing a pearl drop earring, as modelled by Raphael David Maklouf. The truncation carries the engraver's initials RDM alongside the Pobjoy Mint mark PM. ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery and COOK ISLANDS along the right, with the date 1990 centred in the lower exergue. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a flat, unadorned field, characteristic of Maklouf's refined sculptural style for Commonwealth coinage of this period. |
