| Descrizione del dritto | The third-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, draped and crowned with the George IV State Diadem and wearing a pearl drop earring, as modelled by Raphael David Maklouf. The truncation carries the engraver's initials RDM alongside the Pobjoy Mint mark PM. ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery and COOK ISLANDS along the right, with the date 1990 centred in the lower exergue. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a flat, unadorned field, characteristic of Maklouf's refined sculptural style for Commonwealth coinage of this period. |

The curved inscription ENDANGERED WORLD WILDLIFE arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination 50 DOLLARS is presented in a curved panel along the lower border, separated from the central design by a thin concave rule. The overall composition forms part of the Endangered World Wildlife series issued by the Pobjoy Mint on behalf of Cook Islands. |
