| 正面描述 | The fourth crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley faces right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The obverse legend reads 'ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA' with the denomination '50 DOLLARS' below the portrait. The initials 'IRB' appear at the truncation of the bust. Surrounding the central effigy, the twelve animals of the Chinese lunar zodiac are depicted in relief within the field, referencing the coin's series theme. |

Australia's Lunar Series bullion program has run continuously since 1996, with each year's animal replaced on a fixed cycle drawn from the Chinese zodiac — making this the second Pig issue in the series, the first having appeared in 2007. The Royal Australian Mint and Perth Mint both produce zodiac-themed gold issues, a source of persistent collector confusion; this piece is the Canberra facility's version.
The fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Ian Rank-Broadley, was introduced on Australian coinage in 1999 and remained current until the post-accession transition following her death in 2022.
