Obverse description The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted in right-facing bust wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The legend around the periphery reads ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 50 DOLLARS, with the engraver's initials IRB truncated below the portrait. The design is rendered in a clean, unadorned field befitting a modern bullion issue.
