Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, uncrowned, with her hair styled in an upswept coiffure and wearing a pearl necklace and earring. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 50 DOLLARS and the date appear in two segments along the lower portion of the field. The portrait was engraved by Susan Taylor after the effigy modelled by Susanna Blunt, and the engraver's initials SB are visible below the Queen's neck truncation.
