Reverse description A highly detailed, three-dimensional rendition of a single sugar maple leaf (Acer saccharum) occupies the central field, its veining and lobed form rendered with pronounced sculptural relief against a brushed background. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper periphery, while the purity designation 9999 appears twice in the mid-field flanking the leaf at left and right. The lower legend reads FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR, combining English and French text to denote the coin's weight and purity. The overall design is the classic maple leaf motif that has been the hallmark of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf series since its introduction in 1979.
