| Reversbeschreibung | The reverse presents a vibrant pad-printed, full-colour depiction of Geraldton Wax (Chamelaucium uncinatum), a native Western Australian flowering plant, rendered in naturalistic white, green, and deep burgundy tones against the dark platinum field. A cluster of delicate five-petalled blossoms with distinctive dark red centres and surrounding green foliage fills the central field. The series title 'DISCOVER AUSTRALIA' arcs along the upper legend, while '1/2 oz PLATINUM 9995' appears on the lower left and 'GERALDTON WAX' on the lower right, with the date '2008' at the bottom. The coloured floral design is applied using pad-printing technology, making this a distinctive example of modern numismatic production. A beaded inner border frames the entire composition. |

| Zusätzliche Informationen |
The 2008 Platinum Proof Geraldton Wax issue belongs to the Royal Australian Mint's native flora series, which used pad printing — a process borrowed from industrial manufacturing — to apply polychrome colour directly onto platinum blanks. Pad printing on platinum was technically demanding enough that production numbers were tightly constrained, not by design choice but by process tolerance.
Geraldton Wax, native to Western Australia's coastal scrub, had no prior presence in Australian numismatics before this series.
