| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a stylised depiction of a Frilled Neck Lizard rendered in a contemporary artistic style inspired by Aboriginal dot-painting traditions, with the lizard's characteristic frill dramatically displayed. The design is enriched with vivid red and gold pad-printed colour, incorporating circular dot motifs in gold against a bold red background, evoking the Australian outback landscape. The arc legend DISCOVER AUSTRALIA appears along the upper periphery, while the lower field carries the inscriptions 2010 FRILLED NECK LIZARD and 1/2 OZ 9995 PLATINUM in two lines. The Perth Mint's P mintmark appears to the left of the lower legend. |

The Frilled Neck Lizard series from the Perth Mint was part of a broader push in the late 2000s to diversify Australian platinum bullion offerings beyond the established Platypus design, which had anchored the program since 1988. The "pad printed" designation here is significant — color application via pad printing on bullion coins was still a relatively novel production decision at this weight class, and it placed this issue in an awkward commercial space between pure bullion and numismatic collector piece.
Platinum spot was trading near historic highs in the years just before this coin's issue, having briefly exceeded gold in per-ounce price during 2008. By 2010, the spread had collapsed.
