Additional information

The Discover Australia series, launched by the Perth Mint in 2008, was designed explicitly to capture the international bullion collector market by pairing investment-grade .9999 gold with rotating native fauna reverses. The Red Kangaroo issues consistently outsell other reverses in the series — not because of numismatic premium, but because overseas buyers, particularly in Asia, treat the kangaroo as the default symbol of Australian gold coinage. Perth understood this and has never rotated it out.
