正面描述 The third effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Dora de Pédery-Hunt, depicts the Queen's right-facing bust wearing the royal diadem, a necklace, and drop earrings. The portrait presents the sovereign at a mature age with finely detailed facial features rendered in high relief. The legend arcing along the upper periphery reads ELIZABETH II, while the denomination 50 DOLLARS and the date appear in the field. The design is set within a plain field with a raised rim.

附加信息

Canada's platinum maple leaf series launched in 1988, making the Royal Canadian Mint one of the earliest sovereign issuers to produce a platinum bullion coin for the international investment market — ahead of the United States Mint's platinum eagle by nearly a decade. The .9995 fineness specification was a deliberate commercial decision, positioning the coin fractionally purer than most competing platinum products available at the time.

Platinum spot prices collapsed sharply in the early 1990s following reduced industrial demand and increased Russian export supply, meaning buyers of these dates acquired them at historically depressed metal prices.
