The creature's massive, tentacled visage dominates the upper field, its glowering eyes inlaid with vivid red enamel colour inserts, lending a striking and menacing effect. Massive writhing tentacles extend outward and downward, enveloping a fully rigged three-masted sailing ship rendered in fine detail at the centre of the composition, whose hull and sails are partially obscured by the beast's coiling appendages.
