Additional information

Canada has issued nature-themed fine silver rounds in this general format since the mid-2000s, and the series has expanded steadily enough that individual releases now number in the hundreds. This particular piece uses galvanic gold plating selectively applied over polished silver fields, a technique the RCM has refined across several large-format collector issues. The embedded crystal element follows a trend the mint introduced on earlier botanical and wildlife releases, where Swarovski or custom-cut components were used to simulate dew, water, or translucent wing structures.

Charles III's effigy appears here under the Susanna Blunt portrait, first adopted for Canadian coinage in 2003 and now transitioning to a new likeness following his accession in 2022.
