Issued to mark the 55th anniversary of the Centrale Bank van Suriname, founded in 1957 following Suriname's transition to autonomous status within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Commemorative currency from small Caribbean and South American nations frequently goes straight into collections rather than tills, and this note is no exception — genuine circulation wear is essentially unattested. G&D's Leipzig facility handled the production, a long-standing relationship between Surinamese monetary authorities and that printer.
The security specification is notably thin for a 2012 issue — watermark only, with none of the thread or optically variable features common to contemporary G&D output.
