Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Singapore's independence, this polymer commemorative was printed by Note Printing Australia in Melbourne — the same facility that has handled Singapore's general polymer circulation series since the late 1990s. NPA's relationship with MAS dates to Singapore's transition away from paper substrate, and this note sits within that same production lineage rather than representing any departure from it.
Commemorative issues from MAS have historically maintained legal tender status alongside regular circulation notes, a policy choice that keeps them technically spendable while ensuring most are absorbed by collectors immediately upon release.
