| Obverse description | The obverse is dominated by an intaglio portrait of President Samuel K. Doe at centre, set against a fine guilloche underprint in blue and red tones. The upper border carries the inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA, with FIFTY DOLLARS rendered in large numerals and lettering at lower centre and at upper left; the denomination numeral 50 appears at upper right and lower left.
