The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank has issued its $50 denomination on polymer substrate since 2012, when De La Rue's Safeguard® technology replaced the long-running cotton paper series. The 2019 date places this note within the second generation of that polymer transition — by which point the ECCB had accumulated enough operational data to refine the window placement and thread specifications from the initial rollout.
The ECCB is one of the few currency unions still functioning as originally designed, serving eight member territories across the Windward and Leeward Islands with a single note series since 1983.
