The P#24 series was part of a broader reissue program the Central Bank undertook in the early 2000s, refreshing the existing design family rather than introducing new imagery — a cost-conscious decision common among smaller Pacific island issuers working within limited central bank budgets. Thomas De La Rue's involvement goes back to the very first Solomon Islands issues following independence in 1978, making this a long-standing commercial relationship rather than a competitive tender.
Security provision on this note is modest by contemporary standards — watermark and thread only, with no optically variable elements.
