| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely detailed three-quarter front view of the iconic 1964½ Ford Mustang convertible rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The automobile is depicted with characteristic period detail including wire-spoke wheels, open cockpit, and the distinctive Mustang grille emblem. The inscription 1964 1/2 MUSTANG appears below the central motif, accompanied by the Ford oval trademark logo. The denomination FIFTY DOLLARS is inscribed in bold letters along the lower arc, while the year 1996 appears prominently at the top of the field. |

| Additional information |
The Marshall Islands began issuing commemorative coinage in 1986 under authority granted by its Compact of Free Association with the United States, quickly becoming one of the more prolific Pacific-island commemorative programs of the 1990s. This piece marks the 1964½ Mustang's debut — Ford introduced the car in April 1964, mid-model-year, which is why collectors have long insisted on the "½" designation to distinguish it from the true 1965 production run. Over 400,000 units sold within the first twelve months, a figure Ford's own projections had underestimated by roughly half.
