Issued to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Arab League's founding, this commemorative was produced during a period when the UAE was aggressively expanding its presence in pan-Arab institutional politics. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan had made Arab unity a personal diplomatic priority throughout his presidency, and the coin's authorization came directly from his office rather than through routine treasury channels.
