The map is overlaid with fine Arabic calligraphic text filling its entire surface. Surrounding the central motif is an ornate border of interlaced foliate and arabesqueinspired scrollwork, itself encircled by a raised legend band. Kuwait's 2011 commemorative program marked the 50th anniversary of the constitution and the 20th anniversary of liberation from Iraqi occupation — two events the Kuwaiti government had strong political reasons to celebrate simultaneously.
