| Obverse description | This face bears a right-facing draped bust of King Hussein I of Jordan, depicted in military uniform adorned with a decorative order or medal on the chest. To the left of the effigy, five lines of Arabic calligraphic text occupy the central field, constituting an excerpt from King Hussein's independence declaration speech. A continuous Arabic legend arcs around the upper periphery of the inner circle, reading the Golden Jubilee of Independence 1946–1996. The design is contained within a raised inner border, set against a broad milled rim characteristic of trial strike planchets. |
