By 1992, Yugoslavia was dissolving under the weight of war and secession, and the National Bank was issuing coinage for a state that no longer meaningfully existed. Slovenia and Croatia had already declared independence; Bosnia was in the opening weeks of its siege. This coin was struck for a country in the process of becoming Serbia and Montenegro.
Hyperinflation rendered it effectively worthless within months of issue.
