Obverse description The Imperial emblem of Iran depicted as a rampant lion passant to the right, holding an upright sword in its right forepaw, with a radiant sun rising behind its back. The design is rendered in relief against a plain field and reflects the traditional Shir-o-Khorshid (Lion and Sun) motif used throughout the Pahlavi era.
