| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Hilderic facing right, rendered in a late antique style derived from Roman imperial portraiture. The king wears a diadem with pendilia, and the bust is shown with a cuirass or paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The circular Latin legend D N HILDI RIX REX runs around the bust, with the value mark L (denoting 50 denarii) visible in the right field. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, characteristic of Vandal hammered silver coinage of this period. |
