Comments

The Central Bank of The Gambia's relationship with Thomas De La Rue for this series reflected the broader pattern of Anglophone West African states maintaining London printing contracts well into the late Cold War period — partly a matter of established credit arrangements, partly institutional inertia from independence-era banking setups. The Gambia's small physical size and limited monetary economy meant these notes circulated in a genuinely compressed geographic range, the entire country measuring barely 50 kilometres across at its widest.

Pick 15 ran across a notably long window for such a small-denomination series, with date variants across six years making specimen and date-specific collecting more granular than the single Pick number implies.
