The National Bank of Vietnam issued this note for the Republic of Vietnam — South Vietnam — at a point when the country's monetary system was under severe strain from wartime inflation and the costs of prolonged conflict. Bradbury Wilkinson, long a preferred printer for Commonwealth and allied nations, produced the series at their New Malden facility, which handled a substantial volume of banknote work for governments across Southeast Asia during this period.

The P#25 series is not especially scarce, but notes that avoided the chaotic final months of April 1975 in reasonable condition are a different matter — much of the circulating stock was destroyed or abandoned during the fall of Saigon.
