Obverse description The Arnold Machin effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is depicted as a right-facing draped bust, wearing a tiara and with her hair styled in soft curls. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II to the upper left and D·G·REGINA to the upper right, with the date 1976 positioned in the lower exergue. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a mirrored proof field, characteristic of the Machin second effigy used on Commonwealth commemorative issues of this era.
