正面描述 The coat of arms of the Turks and Caicos Islands occupies the central field, featuring a shield charged with a cactus, lobster, and conch shell, supported on either side by a flamingo rampant, and surmounted by a pelican atop a helm and mantling. The denomination '50 CROWNS' is inscribed in two lines below the arms. The legend 'TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS' arcs along the upper periphery in Latin characters.

附加信息

Issued to mark the centenary of Winston Churchill's birth, this piece belongs to a wave of Churchill commemoratives that flooded the market in 1974 from British dependent territories — many of them financially motivated by collector demand rather than any particular local connection to the man. The Turks and Caicos Islands had no meaningful historical tie to Churchill; the series was effectively a revenue instrument dressed as commemoration.

The .500 fineness is notably low for a gold commemorative of this period, a deliberate cost-reduction that kept face value viable while still qualifying the piece as a gold issue.
