| Opmerkingen |
Nicaragua's 1985 series was issued deep into the Sandinista period, when hyperinflation was already eroding the córdoba at a pace that made denominations obsolete almost immediately after printing. The Canadian Bank Note Company had a long relationship with Central American issuers, though for Nicaragua this was a relatively late contract — most earlier issues had passed through other printers.
The watermark is the sole mechanical security feature, a lean specification that reflects the economic constraints of the period rather than any lapse in banking standards. By 1988 the córdoba would be replaced entirely by the córdoba oro, rendering this entire series obsolete within just a few years of issue.
