The P#150 series was among the last issued by the Banco Central de Reserva before El Salvador's 2001 dollarization, which abolished the colón entirely and replaced it with the U.S. dollar at a fixed rate of 8.75 colones. Notes from this precise print window were therefore retired within a few years of issue, with no repatriation mechanism for holders abroad — a quiet financial loss absorbed largely by the Salvadoran diaspora in the United States.
The dual printer credit reflects a transitional production arrangement; BA International was acquired by De La Rue in 1999, mid-series.
