Redonda is an uninhabited volcanic rock in the Caribbean, part of Antigua and Barbuda, with no government, no population, and no monetary system. Its "kingdom" is a literary fiction originating with the eccentric claim of Matthew Dowdy Shiell in 1865 and subsequently passed through a chain of British authors including M.P. Shiel, John Gawsworth, and eventually Jon Wynne-Tyson. Coins issued in its name are fantasy pieces with zero monetary authority behind them.
The "paper colorized" steel construction — essentially a steel disc with a printed paper label — removes any pretense of this being a struck coin in any traditional sense.
