Obverse description The Jamaican coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a red cross with five golden pineapples, supported on the dexter side by a Taino woman and on the sinister side by a Taino man, each in traditional dress. A crocodile rests upon a royal helmet above the shield as the crest. A scroll below the supporters bears the national motto in the legend. The country name JAMAICA arcs across the upper periphery, the denomination FIFTY CENTS is inscribed along the left and right sides respectively, and the date appears at the base of the coin.
