Obverse description The Jamaican coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield bearing five pineapples, supported by two Taino figures — a woman to the left holding a basket of fruit and a warrior to the right bearing a spear — with a crocodile couchant atop a royal helmet as crest. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto OUT OF MANY, ONE PEOPLE. The legend JAMAICA arcs along the upper periphery, with FIFTY CENTS inscribed vertically along the left and right sides respectively, and the date 1987 appears at the base.
