The "6th portrait" designation marks a significant administrative moment: Susanna Blunt's effigy of Charles III replaced the Jody Clark portrait of Elizabeth II on most Commonwealth coinage almost immediately after the September 2022 accession, making any new issue still bearing Elizabeth II's likeness a deliberate retroactive tribute rather than a current circulation type.
