| Description du revers | The Commonwealth Coat of Arms of Australia occupies the central field, flanked by the two national supporters: a red kangaroo to the left and an emu to the right, both rendered in high relief against a decorative background of native wattle branches. Above the shield surmounts the Commonwealth Star set upon a wreath. The quartered shield displays the badges of the six Australian states. The denomination numeral 50 appears in large bold figures in the lower field, with the engraver's initials SD incorporated into the design below the shield, referencing Stuart Devlin's original reverse design first introduced in 1969. |

Issued following the death of Elizabeth II in September 2022, this is among the first Australian circulation coinage to carry the new memorial obverse — a dedicated portrait variant commissioned specifically for posthumous use rather than the standard effigy rotation that had governed her coinage since 1953. Australia had cycled through six distinct portraits across her reign, more than any other Commonwealth issuer.
