Obverse description Uncrowned and unadorned bare-headed effigy of King George VI facing left, modelled in high relief by Thomas Humphrey Paget, whose initials 'HP' appear below the truncation of the bust. The portrait depicts the King in a naturalistic style without robes or insignia, with finely detailed hair. The circumferential legend reads GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP: in Roman capital letters, separated by raised dots, running from the lower left to the lower right around the periphery of the field. The coin is bordered by a toothed denticle ring.
