Obverse description Uncrowned and unadorned left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, whose initials 'HP' appear below the truncation of the neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and facial features. The peripheral legend reads GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX, omitting the IND:IMP: (Emperor of India) title used on earlier issues. A fine toothed border frames the design.

Reverse description A stylised and simplified rendering of the Royal Arms of Canada, as proclaimed by King George V on November 21, 1921, designed by George Kruger Gray. The shield is quartered with the arms of England, Scotland, Ireland, and France, surmounted by a lion passant guardant and flanked by the lion and unicorn supporters. The denomination 50 CENTS appears below the shield, with CANADA above and the date to either side, along with the engraver's initials K G.
