Obverse description Left-facing uncrowned effigy of King George VI wearing a Tudor-style crown, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail by engraver Percy Metcalfe. The king's bust is truncated at the shoulder and centrally positioned within the field. A continuous circular legend in Latin reads 'GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA.' surrounding the portrait. The coin's border is composed of a uniform dentilled rim. The overall design reflects the restrained classical style typical of Royal Mint portrait coinage of the early 1940s.
