Reverse description Three magnificent frigatebirds (Fregata magnificens) are depicted in dynamic flight across an open field, their deeply forked tails and long angular wings rendered with fine engraved detail that conveys a sense of soaring motion. The birds are shown at varying angles, creating a naturalistic composition that fills the central and lower portions of the die. The denomination legend 50 CENTS is inscribed in bold relief along the upper portion of the field, arching above the birds. A beaded border encircles the entire reverse design. The overall treatment reflects the high-relief medallic style characteristic of Franklin Mint issues of the period.
