| Aanvullende informatie |
Part of a broader Allied series issued to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, this piece commemorates the Solomon Islands' place at the centre of some of the Pacific War's most brutal engagements — Guadalcanal in particular, where Allied forces held on through 1942 and 1943 at enormous cost. The phrase "Where the Tommies Go" points specifically to British Commonwealth contributions, often overshadowed in popular memory by the American campaign narrative.
