| 裏面の説明 | A dynamic, high-relief design by Susan Taylor depicting a wind-swept maiden in profile facing left, her long flowing hair swept back by the breeze. Her raised right hand releases a seabird into the air above, while her left hand is outstretched toward a sailing ship rendered in the middle distance on stylised waves. The garment draped across her figure is ornamented with horizontal stripes and a constellation of stars, evoking maritime and celestial motifs associated with the legend of The Maiden's Cove. The engraver's initials PK appear in the lower centre of the field. |

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's folklore and legends series launched in 2000, this issue draws on the ghost story of Maiden's Cove near Halifax, Nova Scotia — a tale rooted in the region's 18th-century colonial settlement, where a young woman is said to have drowned awaiting a sailor who never returned. The series was an early experiment by the RCM in using commemorative fifty-cent pieces to market distinctly regional Canadian narratives to collectors rather than general circulation.
Mintage was tightly controlled, as with all entries in this folklore run. KM#425 confirms its place in the broader sequence of six themed releases across 2000–2001.
