| 正面描述 | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted as a mature portrait with styled hair and a pearl necklace, rendered in high relief on a plain field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left rim, while D·G·REGINA curves along the right rim, both inscribed in Latin. The portrait is executed in the Susanna Blunt style, characteristic of Canadian coinage from 2003 onward. The overall design is refined and uncluttered, with the Queen's likeness occupying the majority of the coin's obverse field. |

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's "Ancient Canada" dinosaur series, this issue commemorates the 1996 identification of Sinosauropteryx prima as the first non-avian dinosaur confirmed to have possessed feathers — a discovery made from specimens excavated in Liaoning Province, China, that fundamentally reordered the scientific understanding of the dinosaur-to-bird evolutionary transition. The find was announced in Nature and generated immediate controversy among paleontologists.
Canadian involvement in the story is indirect but real: the series reflects the country's substantial institutional investment in vertebrate paleontology, particularly through the Royal Tyrrell Museum.
