One of twelve coins in a coloured circulation-strike series issued by the Royal Canadian Mint to mark the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, this piece features Miga and Quatchi — two of the three official Vancouver mascots designed by Meomi Design Inc. The third mascot, Sumi, appeared on other issues in the set. Coloured circulation coinage of this scale was a relatively novel undertaking for the RCM at the time, requiring an additional application process on finished planchets.
