| 背面描述 | A central allegorical female figure, representing the spirit of Folklorama, stands in the foreground holding a torch aloft in her right hand and a sheaf of wheat in her left, positioned before a large terrestrial globe. Encircling the globe, a procession of dancers in diverse folk costumes celebrate the multicultural heritage of Manitoba's annual Folklorama festival. The inscription MANITOBA arcs across both the upper left and upper right of the field, flanking the date 2002 at the top. The engraver's initials AV appear in the lower right field. |

Folklorama, held annually in Winnipeg since 1970, is one of the largest and longest-running multicultural festivals in the world — a fact that earned it a UNESCO recognition as a model of cultural exchange. The Royal Canadian Mint's 2002 provincial festival series used the fifty-cent denomination almost by default; by that point the half dollar had effectively vanished from everyday Canadian commerce, making it the mint's preferred vehicle for collector-oriented commemoratives that required no pretense of circulation.
