Obverse description The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, depicting a mature, uncrowned right-facing bust of the Queen adorned with a pearl necklace and drop earrings, her hair styled in a characteristic upswept arrangement. The circumscribed legend reads ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA to the left and upper right of the effigy, with the denomination 50 CENTS inscribed along the lower rim. The engraver's initials SB appear discreetly below the portrait truncation. The field exhibits a finely brushed satin finish consistent with the specimen striking technique.
