Obverse description The Fijian Coat of Arms occupies the central field, flanked by two traditional Fijian warriors as supporters, each holding a spear and dressed in native attire. The quartered shield features a British lion passant in the upper half and traditional Fijian symbols — sugarcane, a coconut palm, a dove, and a bunch of bananas — in the lower quarters, surmounted by a British sailing vessel as the crest. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in the Fijian language. The legend FIJI appears along the upper periphery, and the date 1980 is inscribed in the lower exergual area.
